Overview:
This foundational course in Indian classical music is designed to guide students through the systematic learning of ragas and the essentials of classical music. Building on the concepts learned in the Prarambhik level, this course introduces students to six ragas (Alhaiya Bilawal, Khamaj, Kafi, Bhairav, Bihag, and Asavari), delving into their unique structures, moods, and compositions.   • Recap of swaras (notes) and their classifications (Shuddha, Komal, and Tivra).
  • The concept of arohana (ascending notes) and avarohana (descending notes) in ragas.
  • Characteristics of a raga: vadi (primary note), samvadi (secondary note), pakad (signature phrase).

Raga Khamaj:
